Nutrition Assistant

Job Summary:
As a Nutrition Assistant, you’ll bring warmth, patience, and care to every interaction. You’ll help prepare and serve nutritious meals to participants, ensuring every dish is made and delivered with consistency, safety, and heart.

This position is ideal for someone who is dependable, kind, and enjoys meaningful work that supports others. You’ll be part of a collaborative team in a calm, people-centered environment where connection, teamwork, and compassion come first.

Schedule:

Standard operating hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday-Friday. Specific work hours will be established through discussions with your supervisor.

 

Hourly Wage:

$14.00 /hr. to start - $15.00 after 90 days

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch based on participant menus and dietary needs.
  • Follow participant diet cards to ensure proper portions and safe food handling.
  • Set up and dismantle the Café service area for meals and special events.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen and food service areas.
  • Receive and record daily food deliveries and temperatures.
  • Rotate and label food supplies to maintain freshness and safety.
  • Complete monthly inventory and assist with grocery orders.
  • Maintain participant menus and update diet cards as needed.
  • Record temperatures for refrigerators, freezers, and salad bars.
  • Wash, dry, and store all utensils and meal preparation equipment.
  • Collect and dispose of refuse safely and properly.
  • Support special meal events and celebrations as part of the team.
  • Participate in quality and safety initiatives to maintain compliance and excellence.
  • Build positive relationships with participants through friendly, caring service.

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

 

Education and Experience: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3–5 years of experience preparing or serving food, preferably with individuals who have unique dietary needs
  • Experience working with the frail or elderly population is a plus — but not required. We’ll provide hands-on training and mentoring to help you grow!

 

Requirements:

  • Successful completion of background check, physical, drug screening, TB Screening.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods throughout the workday
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to safely access and work in kitchen and food service areas
