Environmental Service Technician

Department: Facilities (301)
Location: Erie, PA

We are looking for an experienced professional to be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the healthcare center for our participants.

Schedule:

Standard operating hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; Monday-Friday. Specific work hours will be established through discussions with your supervisor.

Hourly Wage:

$17.00 /hr. to start - $17.50 after 90 days

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Maintenance & Life Safety Compliance Manager is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene standards of the healthcare center.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Clean and sanitize all areas of the Center including but not limited to public spaces, restrooms, etc.
  • Disinfecting and sanitizing exam rooms, exam tables and other medical surfaces using proper methods, equipment and chemicals.
  • Understand the company’s Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Handle and mix chemicals safely and properly.
  • Restock supplies such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels throughout the day.
  • Store and rotate cleaning products per company policy.
  • Order cleaning and housekeeping supplies for the Center.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of supply storage areas.
  • Lift 10-15 pound buckets of water from the floor to the sink.
  • Collect and disposal of refuse in designated areas weighing 20-30 pounds.
  • Follow work assignment flow to complete tasks promptly.
  • Contact point for all outside service companies/contractors and delivery drivers to ensure all products are delivered to the correct department and services are performed.
  • Report any concerns or maintenance issues to the Maintenance & Life Safety Compliance Manager for correction.
  • May complete any minor maintenance tasks (painting, picture hanging, etc.)
  • Maintain cleanliness of windows.
  • Participate in on-going Quality Initiative training as directed.
  • Maintain infection control standards.
  • Adhering to health and safety standards, including wearing protective equipment like latex gloves, goggles, and face masks when required.
  • Other duties as requested/assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have access to reliable transportation and have a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to deal tactfully and patiently with personnel, participants, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the public.
  • Ability to organize work and follow through on assigned tasks.
  • Must have the cognitive ability to process and perform tasks for Participant safety.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • CPR and First Aid Certification.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-3 years’ janitorial experience working in a healthcare facility.
  • One year of experience working with the frail and elderly population or willing to participate in appropriate training as needed.

Requirements:

  • Requires valid State driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Successful completion of background check, physical, drug screening, TB Screening

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, lift heavy objects; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk, see, hear, and smell.
  • Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination; requires the ability to use department equipment to communicate effectively; The employee is occasionally required to reach and stretch with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs.
